We are seeking a full time Postdoctoral Research Associate for a Diabetes UK funded position to study the role of RNA binding proteins in insulin secretion. This is a excellent opportunity for someone to work on a novel area of research which will have significant impact. You will be integral part of Professor Herbert's research group, a group that have long-standing interests in gene expression, beta-cell biology, and diabetes. You will also have the opportunity to work for up to 6 months with beta-cell biologist Professor David Hodson at the University of Oxford where you will use sophisticated imaging techniques.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD (or close to completion/have equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area. They will have expertise in cellular biology and microscopy, and have an active interest in one or more of the following: diabetes, gene expression, exocytosis, and beta-cell biology. They must also have excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team. It is essential that the candidate is able to manage their your own workload efficiently while maintaining the flexibility required for working in scientific environments.
