Job Details

Applications are invited for a 2 year post of a Post doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or Level 2 within UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science. The explosion in wearable sensing technology in recent years has radically changed our approach to measurement, understanding and enhancement of human performance. However, despite rapid progress in the field over the last 10 years, there are many outstanding challenges related to truly understanding how we can leverage these technologies to deliver real and lasting value to stakeholders in healthcare, wellness and sports application settings. If you come from a movement/sport science or rehabilitation background and are interested in taking on some of these challenges in an interdisciplinary environment then this might be the role for you. This is an exciting opportunity for a post doctoral research fellowship in the SFI Insight Centre for Data Analytics in University College Dublin. We are offering a 2-year fellowship for a PhD graduate with expertise in movement science and measurement of human behaviour/performance. The role will involve working on a series of projects that are related to understanding how we can leverage wearable sensor technologies to measure, understand and enhance human behaviour and performance in health and sport. The specific research programme to be undertaken will comprise a mix of supporting ongoing collaborative projects (such as the ECME project*), self directed research activities, and applied research that is carried out in collaboration with industry partners. This fellowship will be aligned to the Behaviour Measurement and Change research theme in the Insight Centre in University College Dublin: https://insightrecruitment.ucd.ie/research.html#behaviour For more information on working at the Insight Centre in UCD please visit: https://insightrecruitment.ucd.ie/life-at-insight.html For more information about the ECME programme please visit: https://www.ecme-research.com/ This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator. The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching. Fixed Salary: €38,631 per annum Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 30 November 2021. Applications must be submitted by the closing date and time specified. Any applications which are still in progress at the closing time of 17:00hrs (Local Irish Time) on the specified closing date will be cancelled automatically by the system. UCD are unable to accept late applications. UCD do not require assistance from Recruitment Agencies. Any CV's submitted by Recruitment Agencies will be returned.

Prior to application, further information (including application procedure) should be obtained from the Work at UCD website: https://www.ucd.ie/workatucd/jobs/.
