Job Description

A Research Assistant position is available at the Chemistry Department-United Arab Emirates University, to be funded from a start-up research grant for synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials for energy storage and conversion. In this project, applicant is expected to synthesis the nanostructured materials, characterize the materials, and test the electrochemical performance as electrode materials of oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction and/or testing the material for supercapacitor performance. Minimum qualifications: the applicant should have hands-on experience on the following 1- Synthetic chemistry: wet method, hydrothermal method and chemical vapor deposition. 2. Characterization techniques: Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), FTIR, NMR, and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), etc. 3. Electrochemistry: In depth knowledge of electrochemistry and electrochemical methods, including electrode preparation, testing techniques; linear sweep voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, Electrochemical Impedance spectroscopy, and charge/discharge testing. Preferred Qualification Applicant must hold minimum of Bachelor degree in Chemistry or closely related field. The candidate must be fluent in English and have substantial skills in research writing and critical thinking. The candidate needs to have awareness with the lab works and show strong commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace.
