The Education Business Unit’s purpose is to design, build and deliver pathways education and industry skill training products and services efficiently and consistently. Education’s work must meet regulatory requirements and standards, and reinforce Monash University’s Top 100 global University brand and reputation. Education’s remit includes the development and deployment of the Education strategy and plan, aligned with the five pedagogies and the College’s strategic initiatives. From a recent organisational review, the position of Director of Business has become vacant, so we are seeking a dynamic business education leader to join the Education Leadership Team.
About the position
As a specialist expert in education, the Director of Business will strategically lead the discipline area to develop and establish a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in pedagogical, curricula and learning and teaching excellence that supports students’ success. The Director of Business is required to engage and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to provide strategic direction, business operations and academic and operational leadership to teaching teams, ensuring that students are well prepared to transition into their preferred programs. Key responsibilities include leading the implementation of projects and inter-divisional initiatives, managing complex operational issues as they arise, and building capability and succession within a team of Team Leaders and teachers. The role will be required to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and set a culture of performance excellence through the development of data led continuous improvement initiatives.
To be considered you will possess a relevant tertiary degree (Education or Business Management) and Post-Graduate qualification and ideally have teaching experience in a discipline relevant to the role. Strong insights into academic leadership and quality imperatives combined with business acumen are key role requirements, as well demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to transformative educational approaches using digital technologies to engage and improve the student experience. You’ll be self-motivated, confident in your skills with a sense of real purpose and a commitment to building best practice in education within the context of continuous improvement that supports students’ success, providing them with opportunities, experiences and connections, which support their personal goals. As a leader you’ll be able to engage, unite and inspire your team toward a common purpose, encouraging innovation, collaboration and accountability. Naturally, your values will align to those of Monash College, along with a personal style that is collaborative, respectful and inclusive.

- Labour Day, Queen’s Birthday and Melbourne Cup day are normal working days, without penalty payments for time worked. Five days leave (accrued at 1⅔ per public holiday worked) will be granted in lieu, to be usually taken on the days falling between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Contract: Three year full-time fixed term.
