Post Type:  Full Time

The Information Security Group (ISG) at Royal Holloway is seeking to appoint an excellent experienced academic to fill the role of Programme Director (PD) for its relaunched Distance Learning MSc in Cyber Security.

The ISG was founded in 1990 and carries out research and teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, with particularly high numbers of master’s students – we are one of the very few academic departments worldwide devoted solely to Information Security, enabling our staff to focus their research and teaching in this area. Our MSc in Information Security is one of the oldest programmes in the world, having started in 1992 and has a large alumni network with over 4,000 graduates.  We have hosted, and continue to host, a series of Centres for Doctoral Training (CDT) in cyber security, which has enabling us to recruit 10 fully funded and outstanding PhD students every year, contributing to a large and vibrant PhD community.

We are involved in a range of inter/multidisciplinary research activities, spanning Information Technology to Mathematics, Arts & Humanities and Social Sciences. Our research strength also generates significant collaborative opportunities with industry and other leading universities.  We are recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research, and have recently received a gold award as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education.

We are now recruiting for a senior member of academic staff who will lead our distance learning programmes in information and cyber security. The successful candidate must hold a PhD or equivalent, and will have a proven teaching and administrative record, with a broad knowledge of Information Security. Experience in engaging with industry and contributing to outreach activities will also be valuable.

The appointee will be primarily focused on leading our distance learning programmes but may also be asked to contribute to a range of departmental activities, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and project supervision over a range of Information Security topics.

This is a full-time and permanent (tenured) post, available from January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Training and Development opportunities
  • Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
  • Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
  • Free parking

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
