About the position

We have a vacancy for a permanent position as project manager for the EU project ‘Climate Positive Circular Communities’, short name ‘ARV’. The project duration is from January 2022 to December 2025. The ARV project is funded by the European Green Deal initiative as an Innovation Action with the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. The project is led by NTNU and has received a total of 20M euros in funding from the EU.

The ARV project will provide guidelines and a political framework for future energy-efficient and circular solutions in the construction industry. 36 partners from seven European countries are involved. The core of the ARV project lies in the six large-scale demo projects in six European cities (Oslo in Norway, Sønderborg in Denmark, Karvina in the Czech Republic, Utrecht in the Netherlands, Palma in Spain and Trento in Italy). These will be developed as Climate Positive Circular Communities, which is a concept that rests on three main pillars: 1) circular economy, 2) integration of people, buildings and energy systems, and 3) simplicity – achieved by means of digitalization and industrialization.

The demonstration projects focus on nine main areas of innovations:

• Effective planning and implementation of climate-positive circular societies
• Citizen involvement, surroundings and well-being
• Sustainable (re) design of buildings
• Resource-efficient production and work processes
• Integrated systems for renewable energy and storage
• Energy management and flexibility Measurement and evaluation
• Business models, financial mechanisms, guidelines / strategy and utility
• Communication, dissemination and user involvement

The project administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day follow-up of the activities in the ARV project. You will be a part of the project management team of the ARV project, and report to the ARV Project Leader and to the Head of Department.

Duties of the position

The duties include but will not be limited to:

• Assisting in carrying out the implementation of ARV project within the scope, work program, timeframe, and budget specified in the contract agreed with the funding body.
• Assisting the Project Leader in following-up the activities within the ARV project, including communication and meetings with international project partners.
• Create and maintain appropriate records, reports and documentation as required to ensure smooth auditing by the EU Projects Office.
• Ensure that effective and appropriate monitoring procedures are carried out to record project activities and progress.
• Arranging and participating in meetings and workshops, both within the ARV consortium, and towards the building and construction industries.
• Coordinate the implementation of data gathering methods and platforms with colleagues for the purposes of implementing the project.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, businesses, public representatives both locally and across Europe to ensure the effective implementation of the projects.
• You will also be expected to contribute to other projects at the Department when necessary.

Required selection criteria

• Higher education (master’s degree or equivalent), preferably within the sustainable built environment, energy, circular economy, or related fields. Real competence with relevance to the specific tasks assigned to the position can replace the educational requirement.
• Experience in managing projects, including ensuring that projects remain on schedule, providing updates to relevant stakeholders, arranging meetings, and the recording of detailed minutes and actions
• Excellent written and oral English language skills
• Satisfactory ICT skills with comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred selection criteria

• Proven track record of innovation project implementation and delivering end results
• Experience from working in international projects, in particular from EU projects, and preferably with a focus on sustainable built environment.
• Experience in managing finance and budgets and ensuring value for money
• Experience in the collation of knowledge to form structured reports

Salary and conditions

The gross salary for the position of project manager (prosjektleder) code 1113 is normally remunerated at gross from kr 563 500 - 702 100  before tax per year, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2 % is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. 

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria's in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.
