The ANU is one of the world’s great universities and is unique in Australia. Our purpose is to serve society through transformational research and education, fulfilling our mandate as Australia's only national university. We aim to be among the great universities of the world, driven by a culture of excellence in everything we do: delivering a student experience equal to the world's best and conducting outstanding research that transforms society and creates national capability - all within the context of Australia’s 65000 year history.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences is a leading global centre for research and education across the humanities, creative arts and social sciences. The College is comprised of the Research School of Humanities and Arts, and the Research School of Social Sciences. Within these two research schools is a community of scholars who engage in multidisciplinary research and teaching across the breadth of Humanities and Social Sciences.

CASS is led by its Dean, who provides leadership to the College and across the University as a member of the ANU senior management group. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, entrepreneurial and visionary leader able to inspire and engage with an esteemed scholarly community. The Dean will be innovative and ambitious, with an unwavering commitment to fostering HASS research and education, and to delivering successful outcomes for the College and the University. Their academic work will be renowned and from within the College’s disciplines, and their experience in leading a research strategy, achieving impact, exercising positive leadership, and working collaboratively will be demonstrable from past achievements.
