With a new Vice-Chancellor and the development of the “Empowering University” strategy, it is an exciting time to join De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester. We are looking for a talented individual to join us as Head of Legal Services.

Faculty / Directorate
The Head of Legal Services will report to the Registrar (Academic) and Secretary. You will lead and manage a team of qualified lawyers, information governance professionals, a paralegal and an administrator.
Role
You will work alongside and support senior management by providing strategic leadership and management for Legal Services and ensuring that the University operates within the requisite legal and regulatory frameworks.
You will have your own casework of high profile and/or complex legal matters and provide expert advice to senior management and the University’s Governing Body. You will play a key role in enabling the university to successfully navigate the increasingly complex legal and regulatory obligations of higher education.
£67,377 - £82,864 Salary to be set by Vice Chancellor in accordance with Senior staff pay, this will be dependent upon skills and experience.
Ideal Candidate
To be successful for the Head of Legal Services role at DMU your will be a qualified admitted solicitor or barrister with significant post-qualification experience and with a background in commercial or contract law. You will have experience of engaging effectively with senior stakeholders internally and externally (including government and regulatory bodies and international partners), and successfully leading and managing a team in achieving service and performance targets and objectives. Experience of legal services within higher education will be an advantage.
