The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, York University invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the following Professorial and Teaching Stream positions:

Computer Science – Professorial Stream (1 Open Rank + 2 Assistant Professors) – Markham Campus
Computer Science – Teaching Stream (3 positions) – Markham Campus

These positions will support the development of two new programs. One program has a significant focus on work-integrated learning and non-traditional delivery in digital technologies. The other is concentrated on an experiential-learning-centric and community-based computer science program with a focus on software development.

Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering – Professorial Stream (4 Open – Assistant/Associate/Full Professors)
These positions will specialize in one or more of the following areas: Software engineering (all areas), Power engineering (electric power and energy systems with preference for control in power applications), or Biomedical engineering (medical devices, or biological signal processing with emphasis on energy-efficient hardware implementation).

Engineering First Year – Teaching Stream (1 position) – Markham Campus
These positions will support the first year Engineering curriculum at Markham in the broad area of electrical and computer engineering. This appointment will be responsible for the delivery of the engineering first year courses taught by the Lassonde School of Engineering.

Theory of Computation or Data Science (5 Assistant/Associate Professors)

These positions will focus on Theory of Computing broadly interpreted (including, but not limited to algorithms, complexity and cryptography) or Data Science broadly interpreted (including, but not limited to data mining and visualization, big data systems and natural language processing).

                                                                                                      

Where noted, the successful applicants will be based at York’s new Markham Campus when operational (expected in Fall 2023) and will become members of the first cohort of resident faculty members. Between the appointment date and the opening of the campus, the appointees will assume a combination of teaching responsibilities at York’s Keele campus and contribute to the development of academic and research programming planned for the new Markham Campus.
