At the University of Lincoln, the Schools of Chemistry, Life Sciences and Pharmacy are pursuing cutting-edge interdisciplinary research at the chemistry-biology interface and the School's development has been primed by major investment in research laboratory infrastructure and instrumentation in shared facilities - the Joseph Banks Laboratories (JBL). These facilities also support wider research in the College of Science (including Schools of Geography, Maths and Physics, and Engineering). These facilities are available to a range of users across the constituent Schools of the College of Science to enhance research outputs and offer high-level training and outstanding student experience for appropriate undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

Importantly, these facilities play a key role in the development of Lincoln’s knowledge transfer agenda supporting R&D projects with industry through its commercial arm – JBLScience (jblscience.org). The delivery of collaborative projects forms an important strand of activity for development of the scientific environment of the University.

The JBL infrastructure includes major instrumentation in tandem Mass Spectrometry.  We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled research scientist with expertise in advanced operation of mass spectrometry and the potential to manage and develop these resources in conjunction with a highly motivated and dynamic multi-disciplinary academic community. Informal enquiries about this exciting opportunity can be made to Professor Ian Scowen, (Head of School of Chemistry: iscowen@lincoln.ac.uk, 01522 837010).

The University of Lincoln is an equal opportunities employer. As an institutional Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder we are committed to advancing equality in STEM, therefore female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
