The Cranfield Safety and Accident Investigation Centre welcomes applicants who have expertise in the area of human computer interaction and human factors more widely who are looking to develop their careers in human factors. In this role you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team looking at the ways in which we can evolve pilot response to engine events.
About the Role
In this role you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team looking at the ways in which we can evolve pilot response to engine events. The project is funded by Rolls Royce PLC and the project is led by the Aerospace Integration Research Centre (AIRC), at Cranfield. You will be involved in the development and evaluation of new interfaces that support these new concepts of operation. Ideally, you will be familiar with techniques that can be used to understand decision making in work contexts.
About You
You will hold a PhD (or close to completion) in human factors or related discipline. You will be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary team as part of a larger project. You will have aptitude for designing of human machine interfaces informed by formal analytical techniques. Knowledge and experience of cognitive task analysis (or related techniques) would be an advantage in this role. You will have skills and experience of designing and running high quality trials and simulations to generate human performance data. Knowledge about the aviation domain would be valuable but not essential for this role.
