Job Description

Two postdoctoral positions: Evo-devo of butterfly wing patterns and the developmental genetics of odor learning in butterflies

Dept. Biological Sciences (DBS), National University of Singapore

Two postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Antónia Monteiro (DBS). One to study the evolution and development of butterfly wing patterns, the other to investigate the developmental genetics of odor learning in butterflies. Both projects can involve multiplex in situ spatial transcriptomics and/or single-cell sequencing of wings and brains, and/or methylomics of brain DNA, followed by functional genetic perturbations, to investigate the role of candidate genes and/or cis-regulatory elements in the evolution and development of certain color patterns and/or behaviors in butterflies.

The initial appointment is for two years but the positions can be extended beyond that period and can start immediately. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Candidates with experience in bioinformatics, single-cell sequencing, developmental biology, molecular biology methods, and confocal microscopy, are especially welcome to apply.

The Department of Biological Sciences offers world-class research labs and infrastructure and a convivial and collaborative environment.

Interested applicants should contact Antónia Monteiro (antonia.monteiro@nus.edu.sg) with a CV, a brief statement of research interests, and the names of three references.
