Student Services is a diverse group of services and providing the very best student experience is at the heart of everything we do. We have a brand new and exciting opportunity for two Student Events Assistants to join us as part of our new Student Engagement Team on a full time, fixed-term contract until 31 August 2022.

The role

Reporting to our Student Events Coordinator, the successful postholders will provide support to the events team with the planning, administration and delivery of ‘Super Graduation’, a three-day event at St. Mary’s Stadium celebrating our class of 2020, 2021 and 2022. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop their events management experience to work on a large-scale, multi-stakeholder event with a broad range of responsibilities. This will include liaising with suppliers, supporting Graduation task-and-finish groups and responding to enquiries from graduates and their guests.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in an administrative support and/or customer service role
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to keep our students at the heart of everything you do
  • Events experience, working within a busy and diverse environment
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders

Skill level equivalent to achievement of NVQ2, GCSE or City and Guilds.

Some of our student events will be delivered outside of core working hours, therefore you will need to be willing to demonstrate some flexibility in your working hours. If you thrive on variety and are comfortable juggling a broad range of responsibilities, then we would very much like to hear from you.

What we can offer you:

The salary range for the role starts at £21,135 per annum. Further benefits include the opportunity to join the University’s pension scheme, 20 days annual leave and access to a number of University employer discount schemes. To arrange an informal discussion about the role, please contact Donna Ferrand, Student Events and Communities Lead, d.a.ferrand@soton.ac.uk
