About the Job

Swinburne is embarking on an exciting journey, working towards our new vision of bringing people and technology together to build a better world. We are seeking an outstanding and experienced leader take on the position of Manager, Health, Safety & Wellbeing and will manage the provision of workplace health & safety, emergency management and injury management services to managers and staff within the university across a broad range of health, safety and wellbeing issues and lead the respective teams.

Reporting into the Director HS&W, you will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • develop the university wide Safety Management System and oversee its implementation providing a positive user experience and enabling the university to meet its legal obligations.
  • lead major improvement projects to meet strategic risk management objectives.
  • partner with varied internal and external stakeholders in developing, implementing and/or improving Health, Safety & Wellbeing policies, systems and programmes.

About you

To be suitable for the role you will possess:

  • A postgraduate degree in occupational health and safety or related discipline along with extensive relevant experience
  • An in depth knowledge and practical understanding of HS&W legislation, compliance codes and strategies for their successful deployment across the University
  • Proven people management experience, including the ability to develop, manage and motivate a team
  • Proven capacity to consult effectively on workplace risk assessments and development of practical resolution strategies
