The School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University, Belfast is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Research Fellow in the Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research. This is a fixed term contract until 9 July 2024.

The successful candidate will join the McDade and Labonte-Wilson laboratories as part of the multi-disciplinary Prostate Cancer research team.  This exciting cell/molecular biology and functional genomics position funded by Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) will involve the development of novel 2D, 3D and in vivo prostate cancer models and application of cutting-edge functional genomics analyses including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, Single-cell RNA-seq and CRISPR screens.  The project is focussed on the modulation of epigenetics to improve efficacy of ADT/Radiotherapy in poor-prognostic prostate cancers with the ultimate goal of informing novel treatment strategies.

Candidates should have (or have submitted) a Ph.D, have previous genomics and laboratory experience, a publication record commensurate with career stage and ideally experience or an ambition to apply for personal funding.

The successful candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter (or application form)  should clearly demonstrate you have:

At least three years relevant lab-based research experience. Recent relevant experience in a range of molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g., Cell culture, Western blot, RT-PCR, Flow cytometry and/or Immunofluorescence/IHC). Experience with advanced models of cancer e.g., 3D organoids, ex-vivo or in vivo. Experience with genomic data generation and/or analysis. Publication record commensurate with stage of career.   *Please note the above are not an exhaustive list.* 

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
