Job Details

The Department of Social Sciences wishes to appoint three Senior Lecturers/Lecturers in Policing. These academic appointments will be located in the Sociology and Criminology subject group of the Department of Social Sciences. The positions includes the undertaking of teaching, research and administrative duties as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Policing. These duties include co-ordination and teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate modules in the Policing and Criminology programmes, with particular focus on the Police Education programmes. 

The main teaching tasks would include module convening and delivery, and supervision of dissertation students.The appointees will be expected to undertake research leading to scholarly publications and research grants, either individually or collaboratively. In addition, the incumbents will develop partnerships through research, teaching and/or knowledge exchange with organisations and professional bodies in the appointees' area(s) of specialisation.

There are excellent opportunities at the Department, Faculty and University levels for collaboration, leadership and capacity-building in interdisciplinary research relating to policing. crime and justice and, law and legal studies.

Currently, due to COVID-19, academic staff will normally be on campus for approximately two days per week when face to face teaching is scheduled, and as required to undertake research using specialist facilities.
