Enabling Capability Platforms

Reporting into the Research and Innovation Portfolio; these exciting positions sit within the Enabling Capability Platforms (ECPs) which were established to bring together whole-of-university capability, collaborating with industry, government and community. The ECPs support impact-focused research that address complex local, national and global challenges. Through the deployment of multi-disciplinary research capabilities and translation of research, the ECPs help ensure RMIT's research creates value and benefit for our research partners and in doing so creates impact for the economy, environment and society.

The ECPs are being re-envisaged with a greater focus on large scale deployment activities. The incoming Directors will have the opportunity to co-design with the RMIT research community and external stakeholders what the next ECP agenda will be.

About the role

As the ECP Director you will be a strategic enabler, catalyst and intermediary who connects capability with the needs of RMIT's partners and stakeholders (e.g. industry, government and community). You would also provide high thought leadership to influence the development of practices and policy that are of strategic importance to the future direction of RMIT's research, innovation and entrepreneurship aspirations, with a particular focus on achieving impact from research.

ECP Directors will:

  • strategically shape capability development and deployment initiatives to meet emerging and future needs
  • activate their personal networks and engage with industry and external stakeholders to support the development of new opportunities for impactful capability deployment
  • support the development of effective pathways to impact and influence
  • act as a catalyst for the development and delivery of major cross-cutting initiatives
  • lead and manage major, complex strategic relationships

Prospective ECP Directors can be active research leaders in their personal areas of research. Time allocation for the pursuit of personal research activities up to a maximum of 40% and to be negotiated in consideration of alignment with the requirements of the role and ECP Priorities.

About you

You will have:

  • A track record of successfully fostering collaboration with partners and networks to achieve real world impacts and implement impact-driven delivery models within a diverse research environment
  • Experience in developing, leading or managing research initiatives and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and formulate fit for purpose solutions in complex and diverse research and innovation ecosystems

You will be:

  • An innovative, and high-level strategic thinker with a proven record of implementing a strategic vision
  • Passionate about influencing and driving continuous culture change in relation to the impact of research
  • A leader and outstanding communicator.
