About the role:

Would you like to play a key role in supporting the University, providing advice and guidance on a variety of HR topics?

If you are a confident and self-motivated individual who would like to join a responsive and effective HR team, we would like to hear from you.

You will have worked within an HR department and it is desirable for you to have proven experience providing high quality HR advice. You will be able to demonstrate exceptional communication skills both written and verbal, with a good eye for detail. You will need to be proactive with a flexible approach, and have the ability to work with changing priorities during periods of pressured workload. Naturally, you will be able to build and maintain relationships with a variety of people across the University.

The role is varied, as you will be the first line of contact for both internal and external customers wanting to contact HR. We offer telephone and email support to customers and use a range of IT systems such as the central HR database and a ticketing system.

The expected hours of work for this full-time role are 9am - 5pm.

Please see the job description below for further details. Upon appointment, your job title will be 'Ask HR Assistant'.

What we offer:

Our HR department works across Highfield Campus and One Guildhall Square, but your main work location will be One Guildhall Square. Both offices have easy access to public transport, restaurants, coffee shops and a University gym.

There will also be an opportunity to work flexibly from home, as well as coming into the office when required.

As part of our commitment to your well-being, we offer an occupational pension scheme and generous holidays (20 days annual leave plus bank holidays and University closure days).  Staff also have access to our state-of-the-art on-campus sports, arts, and culture facilities and access to a number of University employee-discount schemes.

Supporting the University in achieving its mission ‘to change the world for the better’. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of the University community, where people are valued, and collegiality is key.

Application Procedure:

You should submit your completed online application form at https://jobs.soton.ac.uk. The application deadline will be midnight on the closing date stated above. If you need any assistance, please call Sam Stubbs on +44 (0) 23 8059 2750 or email recruitment@soton.ac.uk.  Please quote reference 1533921DD on all correspondence.
