We are looking for three Student Counsellors to join our Student Wellbeing and Inclusion team at Edinburgh Napier University on guaranteed hours fixed term basis for one year (with the possibility of extension). We are looking to increase our pool of practitioners to work subject to the University's service demands; therefore, there must be flexibility to work daytime and early evenings (Monday to Friday).
Edinburgh Napier University is the #1 Modern University in Scotland. We are a forward-thinking institution, home to forward-thinking people, inspired by the world around them. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with a clear strategy and growth agenda. Join us and you will find that we support ambition, recognise achievement and offer fantastic benefits such as an attractive pension of 20.8% and a minimum of 36 days holiday.
The role
The Student Wellbeing and Inclusion team offer counselling and support to a student body consisting of approximately 19,500 students.
The Practitioners will provide professional, sensitive, and student focussed one-to-one counselling and to a wide range of students. These roles offer a significant and exciting opportunity to join a team that continues to develop and innovate a student-focused service provision.
The Counsellor will offer short-term goal-orientated one-on-one counselling and service assessments whilst promoting self-help techniques and resources to increase students' overall mental well-being and resilience.
The role will also contribute to the Service, supporting students via Silver Cloud, a web-based CBT online program (training will be provided).
Whom we are looking for
Candidates will be degree qualified (or equivalent) with a recognised post-graduate diploma or qualifications in counselling. You will be a registered member of BACP or equivalent and/or evidence of working towards accreditation.
You will have experience (and preferably a qualification) in online therapeutic work, as you will be part of delivering a hybrid counselling model, i.e., online (from home) and face to face counselling. Thus, you will need to have a set-up within your home which is confidential and suitable for counselling.
You will be able to work independently and carry an individual caseload and play a primary role in providing counselling or CBT to Edinburgh Napier Students contributing actively as a member of the team.
These are integral roles within the team, and the service office is primarily based at the Sighthill campus, although students are seen in one to ones at our other campuses.
