Lecturer in Law – Full time, Permanent

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Law on our Professional Practice, Learning and Teaching, or Research pathway. The successful candidate will join a strong team of committed staff and contribute to the delivery of Scots Property Law and UK/EU Environmental Law and related subject areas within the Law Subject Group. The LLB is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland. The post will contribute to developing our engagement with local and national legal services market.

The role

You will play a key role in taking forward the work of the Law subject group. You must demonstrate the ability to contribute to the subject group, together with the Head and other staff members, to achieve and drive forward its strategic objectives. At the same time, the role will enable you to further develop your own professional profile.  

You will have a proven professional or research activity track record in areas that compliment and expand our existing strengths and make a significant contribution to knowledge exchange income generation. We are particularly seeking to augment our professional activity and profile in the area Succession & Trusts and Scots Private Law generally to support and develop the work of the Law Subject Group.

You will contribute to learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level and doctoral supervisions and must be prepared to deliver undergraduate module in Scots Property Law and to develop a new undergraduate module on Environmental Law (UK/EU and international) and such other modules as requested by Head of Subject on the LLB programme. You will be invited to develop a new module based on their specialism and subject to discussion with the Head of Subject.      

Who we are looking for

In addition to the role profile (click here to view) the following criteria are essential:

  • Evidence of a professional (legal) or academic profile
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of experience in specialism to develop high quality teaching/learning and research programmes
  • Evidence of generating external funding or successful research collaboration
  • Proven track record in leading and managing within a team environment
  • A doctoral level qualification in Law is essential.
