A new cross-disciplinary programme for Biomedical Engineering will be launched from Sept 2022. This is a research-informed programme with strong project-based teaching and learning in the curriculum and delivery in collaboration with the NHS, Medlink Engine, industry and various stakeholders. 

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, outstanding academic to complement and expand our existing research strengths and whose research will fit into our research cluster in Robotic Engineering, Biomedical Imaging and Healthcare Technology. In terms of growing our cross-disciplinary research capabilities, this appointment will strengthen the new Biomedical Engineering Programme and also the Transformation in Digital Healthcare research theme through collaboration with Lincoln Medical School or one of our established Research Clusters, including Materials Science & Engineering and Biomedical Imaging & Healthcare Technology. 

The Appointee will also contribute to our teaching in Biomedical Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to be heavily involved and taking leads in new curriculum development for different levels of study. A commitment to international travel is an absolute requirement of the post, and it is expected that there will be one or two international trips each year. Travel requirements will be agreed on a case-by-case basis through discussion and agreement between the post holder and their line manager. This is a full-time and permanent post.

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • A PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related subject.
  • Ability to produce research outputs of internationally excellent quality.
  • Ability to generate external funding for research projects.
  • Ambitious research plans that will be competitive for external funding.
  • Experience of teaching at university (or equivalent) level.
