The University’s College of Engineering, Science and Environment brings together expertise in engineering, environment and the sciences to deliver life ready graduates and transformative solutions to our region and the world. A number of pioneering inventions have also been developed within the School of Engineering, which have been patented and commercialised. The School of Engineering is one of the most research-intensive Schools within the University and consists of four major Discipline groupings, covering most of the engineering degree specialisations. The School’s research focus ensures that students are exposed to cutting edge, world-class thinking and are taught by staff who are at the forefront of developments in their chosen field.

The School of Engineering has some recent educational achievements including: 94% of our engineering undergraduates find employment within four months of completing their studies; is rated number one in Australia for the quality of overall experience for undergraduate engineering students; and in 2020, ranked number one in NSW for educational experience and median salaries.

The Lecturer in Biomechanical Engineering will be part of our well-established mechanical engineering program and our newly established medical engineering program, contributing to the School’s teaching and research effort. You will foster increased partnerships between the University and allied research stakeholders; as well as attract competitive external grant funding to build independent research programs in the biomechanical area. You will work cohesively across the University to strengthen and enhance the current and broaden the future research priorities of the school.

The Lecturer in Biomechanical Engineering will work across all areas of academic activity: education, research and engagement. You will demonstrate educational leadership, utilising your skills in blended learning to deliver high-quality student-centred undergraduate education, and deliver high impact research in biomechanical engineering. You will make a positive contribution to a culture of innovation and work integrated learning for students and engage with industry on challenging research problems.

This full-time ongoing position will be located at the Callaghan Campus.

How will you become part of our research community?

With a passion for teaching and drive to deliver high-impact research outcomes in biomechanical engineering, you will have a proven track record in working autonomously, multi-tasking and be able to effectively utilise adaptive teaching methods, such as online teaching.  You will have capability and eagerness to engage and network with external organisations to secure research funding and to assist industry in solving highly complex technical problems. You will possess a PhD in biomechanical engineering and have a developing track record in research grant funding and in publishing in quality publications.

The remuneration is $101,197 to $120,173*, plus 17% superannuation.
