About UNE

The University of New England (UNE), Armidale is a regionally based, globally networked university that is renowned for the quality of its student experience and the excellence of its research specialisations. Currently there are over 26,000 students (84% of whom are distance/online students) and approximately 1,200 academic and general staff.

Right from its inception as Australia’s first regional university, UNE has consistently redefined what a university is. UNE’s first Vice-Chancellor, Sir Robert (Bert) Madgwick, believed the University’s job is “to find out what people want… and never start with what the University thinks they need.” His personal mission was to help ordinary people to respond to a rapidly changing world for the purpose of empowering society.

Our new strategic plan, Future Fit, commits us to providing our students with personalised lifelong learning journeys, in line with Madgwick’s vision and founding goal of UNE being a leading regional university that empowers its communities and supports resilience in its people. This is a remarkable and exciting time to be part of UNE and the University is thrilled to announce we are on a search for a talented individual to become UNE’s new Chief Financial Officer.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic leadership and oversight of financial operations underpinning the University’s ambitions in teaching and research and ensures compliance with statutory reporting obligations. The role oversees the effective provision of procurement services and appropriate financial service delivery to UNE controlled entities. The appointee implements financial planning and analytical frameworks; and allocation of funds to support the delivery of the UNE Strategic Plan.
