Reporting to the College Pro Vice-Chancellor, an exciting career opportunity exists for an innovative and visionary Dean and Head of School to lead the highly reputable School of Medicine and Public Health.

Across all the clinical disciplines involved in medicine, as well as behavioural sciences relating to health, clinical epidemiology, medical statistics, and public health, the School has a proud history of developing the next generation of clinicians and public health professionals who go on to contribute to the broad system of health care within the region and beyond. World-class researchers drive discoveries that challenge conventional thinking, break new ground, and change lives. Working with industry, community and government partners, the School operates at the interface of healthcare and translates new knowledge into innovations that make a real difference.

The University is seeking an effective enabler who can navigate complexity, with an outstanding record of scholarship and/or relevant research, teaching and engagement, coupled with a commitment to equity and social justice. An ability to inspire and enable a large team, while displaying openness and resilience to change is important, combined with a strong focus on delivering contemporary teaching and curriculum development and research which drives impact and service improvement in the health system.

College of Engineering, Science and Environment

The University’s College of Engineering, Science and Environment (CESE) brings together expertise in engineering, environment, and the sciences to deliver life ready graduates and transformative solutions to our region and the world.  CESE strives for excellence, innovation and equity in teaching, education, research and partnerships.  We are global leaders uncovering new knowledge, creating revolutionary technology, and delivering innovative teaching.

The School of Engineering is one of the most research-intensive Schools within the University.  The School consists of four discipline groupings:

  • Civil and Environmental Engineering and Surveying
  • Chemical and Renewable Energy Engineering
  • Aerospace Systems, Electrical, Computer Systems
  • Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

The School is home to many leading-edge research centres and has strong links with industry through sponsored undergraduate students and research collaborations. It is highly research active, contributing substantially to the overall research inputs and outputs of the CESE.  This is reflected in the 2018 Excellence in Research in Australia outcomes where Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Resource Engineering codes all received an ERA5.
