The Directorate of Information & Library Services (ILS) is seeking to appoint an AV and IT Service Development Assistant, responsible for providing specialist audio-visual support & basic IT training to both academic and non-academic staff. The post holder will also have direct involvement with the development of technology provided in over 130 teaching and meeting spaces across the University’s three campuses.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a flexible and dynamic team of multi-skilled professionals, and to widen your knowledge and technical skills.
You will routinely test, diagnose faults and undertake minor repairs to the AV systems across the university estate to ensure quality of service for students and staff.
You will provide support and training in the use of the audio-visual and IT equipment in teaching spaces supported by ILS, liaising with the First and Second Line Support Teams as required.
Expert knowledge of modern audio-visual systems is essential, along with strong general IT support skills.
You will also work with your Service Development & Communications Team colleagues to develop and improve other audio-visual and IT-related services and will create video & audio content for consumption across multiple platforms. This will include lecture capture, streaming, videoconferencing, digital signage, BYOD (bring your own device) and video production/post-production.
You must exhibit a clear, proficient customer focus (complying with Service Level Agreements), work in a calm and understanding manner, inspire confidence in users and take control of situations which could be technically unpredictable.
Working at all campuses and some evening and weekend work is an on-going requirement of this role.
As the role develops, you will be involved in the requirements analysis and provision of AV support of events held at the university.

The post will be based at the outstanding World Heritage Site of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
