About the role

As the Research Assistant, you will undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy and will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team working on a Victorian Higher Education State Investment Fund (VHESIF) project that aims to develop digital tools and techniques for safer workplaces. This will involve mobile application development for sensor localization, analysis, visualisation, and modelling of spaces with sensor data from heterogeneous sources and Internet of Things (IoT) devices deployed at multiple sites.

About you

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports related to the field of the project
  • Strong experience in at least one of the following areas; mobile application development and sensor localization or/and in time-series and spatio-temporal data mining
  • Experience in developing and/or using state-of-the-art methods, software and tools in a relevant research context
  • Scholarly writing skills and experience in preparing publications for high quality Q1 peer reviewed journals and relevant top conferences in sensor networks, mobile and ubiquitous computing, machine learning, or data mining
  • Strong interest in human movement and behaviour modelling
  • Ability to work independently to generate distinctive contributions to scholarly knowledge and/or create real world outcomes
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-achieving and collegial research culture

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Qualification in the relevant discipline area and have commenced or enrolled to commence their PhD.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check
