This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Impact Research Coordinator to join our team and contribute to high quality, meaningful, equitable, and sustainable impact and engagement in the area of society and mental health. 

 

The post holder will work closely with researchers, academics, community researchers and experts by experience at the Centre for Society and Mental Health (CSMH) (www.kcl.ac.uk/csmh), as well as third/public sector community groups and organisations, Local Authorities and statutory services, to maximise the impact of, and engagement with, our ongoing research on; youth mental health (CSMH Programme 1, led by Professor Craig Morgan), marginalised communities (CSMH Programme 2, led by Professor Stephani Hatch) and work and welfare reform (CSMH Programme 3, led by Professor Mauricio Avendano).  The post holder will work with the Impact lead Professor Stephani Hatch and Impact Projects Manager to set priorities, maximise impact, and support Centre researchers to consider and build impact and evaluation into research projects across the Centre and support the ambition to develop impact case studies to submit to REF 2028.  

 

The post holder will be encouraged and supported to make use of the wide range of training and career development resources at King’s College London and within CSMH.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 12 months 

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week)

 

Key responsibilities

With support from the Impact lead and Impact Projects Manager, the post holder will:  

• Support Centre academics and researchers to maximise the impact of research among the different target communities, translating research into practice, and driving meaningful and evidence-based change for young people, marginalised groups and those affected by work and welfare reform. 

• Provide training and development opportunities on creating and evaluating sustainable change with all in the Centre at all levels.  

• Contribute to collecting and evaluating data from different stages of the research processes to assess and report on how impact can be part of each stage of the research process. 

• Provide support to impact projects that are currently underway in the Centre, and those that are planned for future delivery.   

• Support development of impact case studies, and preparation for future REF and KEF submissions. 

• Contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality engagement activities and resources that aim to share the work of the Centre and provide opportunities for knowledge exchange with different stakeholder groups. 

• Contribute to written reports, presentations and publications, including those on our ways of working and evaluation. 

• Contribute to ethics applications to ensure that impact is fully considered. 

• Contribute to marketing, communication and public engagement plans for relevant projects 

• Contribute to developing impact project proposals where appropriate funding opportunities arise 

• Complete any training relevant to the role (e.g., safeguarding and data protection and diversity and inclusion) 

• Undertake any other activities, as directed, commensurate with the nature and grade of the post

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience  

• Interest in evaluating and delivering change through research.  

• Experience supporting and coordinating research-related engagement activities. 

• Experience of building strong working and equitable relationships with diverse and/or marginalised groups 

• Ability to work with different stakeholder groups to achieve change. 

• Experience of dealing with sensitive/confidential matters discretely and appropriately  

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to present and explain concepts and information related to impact literacy to all across the Centre. 

• Excellent knowledge of MS Office, including Teams and SharePoint. 

• Ability to think creatively and innovatively  

Desirable

• Experience of working in mental health 

• Good knowledge of research methods 

• Good knowledge of ethical considerations in research with people living in vulnerable circumstances  

• Experience working with communication platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Canva. 

• Experience organising events such as workshops, seminars and conferences
