We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and inspiring leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join the School of Computing Technologies at RMIT University as the Associate Dean for the Discipline of Artificial Intelligence. The Associate Dean AI will provide critical senior leadership for the School's academic and research performance, strategy, and growth within the Discipline of Artificial Intelligence. The Associate Dean AI will further be committed to building an equitable and rich scholarly environment in teaching and research in the School, supporting the success of culturally and academically diverse staff and students.

About the position:

  • 3-year fixed term appointment as a 0.5 FTE Associate Dean, underpinned by an ongoing full-time Associate Professor/Professor position (as appropriate)
  • Remuneration at Academic Level D ($148,192 - $163,260) or Academic Level E ($190,891) + 17% superannuation
  • This role reports to the Dean - School of Computing Technologies with 15-25 direct reports

About you and the role:

  • Leading and working in a manner that reflects the core RMIT values of Imagination, Agility, Courage, Passion, Impact, and Inclusion.
  • Playing a critical role in the School's leadership team, leading and managing staff within the Artificial Intelligence Discipline and working collaboratively with the Dean to enable the School and the STEM College to deliver on the next stage of transformation;
  • Providing academic and strategic leadership and fostering a culture of progression to enable delivery on the College research, and learning and teaching strategies;
  • Leading the advancement of teaching in the discipline including initiating program improvements;
  • Contributing actively in AI research through high impact publications and competitive research grants;
  • Delivering, in collaboration with other discipline members, best of class student experience by embracing interactive, digitally enabled student-centered learning experiences and identifying and implementing innovative learning & teaching initiatives;
  • Connecting actively with industry, commerce and government for both research and teaching initiatives with both external national and global partners;
  • Acting as an inspirational role model to positively influence the School's culture with the ongoing quality improvement mindset.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications (including a PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related areas with knowledge and achievements that meet RMIT's Associate Professor or Professorial criteria
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check
