Applications are invited for a fixed term post of a Research Fellow within UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science.

Preeclampsia (PET) is a condition of pregnancy that is difficult to diagnose and kills 50,000 mothers and 500,000 babies globally every year. AI PREMie is a risk stratification tool which identifies women with PET - and how the condition will progress. Our AI PREMie tool assesses the pre-eclampsia risk based on circulating biomarkers in the plasma of pregnant mothers.

This will give clinicians and other caregivers the opportunity to proactively plan pregnancies for at risk mothers, giving a clearer understanding if planning for delivery is necessary or if the baby can stay in utero allowing for further development as every day in utero counts.

A Research Fellowship position is available to undertake the validation and expand the robustness of the AI-PREMie model, using machine learning. In addition, they will work with multi-disciplinary teams made up of Clinicians, Research nurses, Scientists and statisticians to build a compelling clinical case for AI\PREMie.

The purpose of the role is to deliver a specific research project. The role allows the Research Fellow the professional development opportunity to demonstrate the capacity for independent and self-directed research and scholarship and the management of a research team. The role allows the Fellow to assemble a portfolio of independent achievement and render themselves competitive for tenured academic positions or senior scientific roles in industry.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project: Communication link between laboratory scientists, data scientists, statisticians and clinicians Ensure timely completion of tasks and work packages Coordination of grants supporting the project Management of research outputs in the form of opinion pieces, research articles, presentations and others Active engagement with all aspects of the project including clinical, laboratory and technology aspects

Fixed Salary €55,810 per annum
