Situated in the heart of a beautiful and historic city, The University of Lincoln has built an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and research. The University was named as the Modern University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021.
The School of Social and Political Sciences is an expanding department within a university that has established a reputation as one of the most dynamic and fastest growing in the UK. This is an exciting time to be joining our student-focused and research-active School in further developing our place as a leading centre for studying and engaging with the range of disciplines in the School (social policy, politics, international relations, sociology, criminology).
The School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Social Policy to add to our existing strengths in teaching, research, and external engagement. You will be able to teach across our social policy provision, as the research specialism of the successful candidate may be in any area of social policy, and we particularly encourage candidates with a strong public policy research background. As a multi-disciplinary School, we welcome applicants whose social policy expertise can fit with either a broad political approach, or a more sociological one.
Alongside teaching, you will be encouraged to conduct high quality research and/or engage externally, for example in professional practice and scholarly activity. In addition, the role particularly at Senior Lecturer level includes offering leadership in aspects of the School’s work, for example, portfolio development, student support, or civic engagement.
You will seek to develop your own and the School’s profile, and to enrich the academic environment and profile of the School of Social and Political Sciences, and of the College of Social Science of which it forms a part.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Dr Edwin Bacon, Head of School - ebacon@lincoln.ac.uk.
