Contract Type: Fixed Term - for 24 months

The University of Greenwich has a growing reputation. One of the largest universities in the capital by student numbers, we are widely recognised for the quality of our learning and teaching, research that is internationally recognised and experiences our students enjoy. We are an international student community of people from 176 countries and a leader in transnational education.

The Education Support Unit, based within UK Student Recruitment, is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Outreach Assistant. This role sits within a busy and dynamic team of widening participation and student recruitment specialists who develop and deliver university progression support to diverse audiences of prospective students across target schools, colleges and community groups. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career professional to join the team at a time when we are implementing an enhanced outreach offer and utilising digital technologies to support and engage prospective students in new ways. There will also be the opportunity to spend time with other teams within the Department to develop broader knowledge, understanding and experience of student recruitment and support business needs throughout the UCAS cycle.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level and have enjoyed positive higher education experiences, having made an active and substantial contribution to university life. You will be an enthusiastic advocate for the benefits of higher education.

Post holder should possess good knowledge of UCAS, have strong written and verbal communication skills and be highly organised. As the first point of contact for schools, colleges and other partners, excellent customer service skills are essential to develop and maintain links with key stakeholders. Post holder will be required to deliver face-to-face and digital outreach activities to schools, colleges and community groups including presentations, academic and transition skills workshops and subject-specific projects, making all necessary arrangements to attend events.

The successful candidate will be required to work open days and undertake travel in the UK, working flexibly including evenings and occasional weekends. The post holder would be expected to work from our Avery Hill Campus, and other campuses as required, including physical delivery of events in schools and colleges in London and the Southeast.

We encourage applicants to disclose experience of mental health problems so we can support them fully during our recruitment process and make any necessary reasonable adjustments. Any information disclosed will be kept confidential and separate from the job application form.
