CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
FELLOW GROUPS FOR “THE FUTURE OF DEMOCRACY”
THE NEW INSTITUTE is a mission-driven Institute of Advanced Study and a platform for change. It was founded in response to the urgent ecological, economic and political challenges of our time. THE NEW INSTITUTE is located in Hamburg and brings together a community of globally concerned thinkers and practitioners from academia, the arts, activism, media, business, and politics to develop powerful visions to fundamentally reshape societies.
Our programme “The Future of Democracy” addresses the current challenges and failures of the democratic system and aims to find ways to strengthen participation. The goal is to imagine how democracy can be reconfigured to be fit for purpose and capable of evolving in the future.
For this programme, we are looking for groups of fellows who have an idea for a project they want to work on collaboratively. Projects should open up pathways to viable solutions in one of these fields:
- The Conditions for Democratization
- The Future of Political Representation
- Enhancing Deliberation and Decision-Making
Successful applicants will be invited to spend 12 months fully funded working and living in Hamburg at our residence, the Warburg Ensemble. Fellow work will commence as of October 2022.
Applications must be submitted by the 4th of November 2021. Detailed information on this call can be found on our website:
