Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Computing (several posts) (Ref. 21092001)
The Department of Computing (COMP) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, founded in 1974, pioneers the development of computing education in the territory. The Department is now inviting applications from outstanding candidates with expertise and experience in relevant areas.
The appointees will be required to:
(a) teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervise research students;
(b) initiate and conduct innovative research leading to publications in top-tier refereed journals and award of external research grants;
(c) engage in research collaborations both locally and internationally;
(d) participate in professional services to the academic community and support activities that promote and foster links with the profession in the industry and community;
(e) contribute to departmental strategic areas and activities;
(f) undertake departmental administrative duties; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his delegates.
(a) have a PhD degree with an excellent track record of research in related areas;
(b) have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research and professional service;
(c) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills and have good interpersonal skills;
(d) show strong evidence of commitment to research with high impact; and
(e) have good networking ability and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
Preference will be given to those with strong research orientation, potential to publish in high quality scholarly journals and good teaching record.
Applicants for appointment at Professor / Associate Professor levels should have substantial years of relevant post-qualification experience and an excellent record of relevant academic and/or research achievement. Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment as Assistant Professor.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. An appropriate term will be provided for appointment at Professor / Associate Professor levels.
