SCHOOL OF EDUCATION
The School of Education is a large school within the Faculty of Humanities at Curtin University. Comprising Asian Languages and Applied Linguistics as well as Education, it has over 8000 students enrolled and a reach that spans Curtin’s international campuses in Malaysia, Singapore, Mauritius and Dubai. The School’s mission is to embrace innovation in learning technologies, theory and practice to prepare outstanding graduates who can teach and work in a rapidly changing world. Under the next Head this will particularly mean leveraging its strength in STEM to foster collaboration across the Faculty and Curtin, while also enhancing its strong reputation for social impact, particularly in Indigenous engagement. Experience in and an understanding of online teaching is crucial particularly as the School has an extensive Open University Australia presence (OUA).
Reporting to incoming Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Richard Blythe, the next Head of School will work as part of the Faculty leadership team to guide not just Education at Curtin but all of the Humanities. The successful candidate will bring relevant academic credibility and understanding of practice allied with breadth of academic vision, strategic agility and operational acumen, including demonstrable experience leading and inspiring teams. You will have a flair for cultivating partnerships within and outside the School, especially in interdisciplinary research and pedagogy, along with a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
