The Senior Development Officer is responsible for the establishment and implementation of philanthropic fundraising priorities determined by the College and CASS Advancement with a focus on securing philanthropic gifts of all sizes. This role will develop and manage an evolving portfolio of annual and major gift prospects within a complex stakeholder environment, and will require the development of creative, innovative and culturally-competent strategies to optimize philanthropic income.  Alumni and donor relations are an inherit part of the work in this role.

The appointee is expected to have relevant and/or related work experience experience including a demonstrated record of successful results in philanthropic fundraising from strategy through to execution, major gifts preferred, and an understanding of philanthropy in Australia.   Strong communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to identify, create and share stories and news of CASS and ANU is required.  Experience with a variety of technology and database tools preferred.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice. Our academic staff are internationally recognised for their research, and 57 are members of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, the Academy of the Social Sciences of Australia, or both. We also host 13 Australian Research Council Future Fellows and three ARC Laureates. A hub of vibrant activity, we host more than 270 lectures, concerts and exhibitions each year, most of which are open to the public. Our students, staff and graduates come from more than 60 nations, bringing a diversity of perspective to campus life.
