We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Health Economics and Econometrics (fixed term 6 months) to support our expanding programme of primary and prehospital research. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research on the NIHR funded study, ‘Community First Responders’ role in the current and future rural health and care workforce’, and other related studies as directed by the Chief Investigator, Prof Niroshan Siriwardena.

Professor Siriwardena is director of the Community and Health Research Unit (CaHRU), the research centre of the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln. Members of CaHRU undertake independent empirical and operational research relating to quality improvement and innovation in health and social care. Our research has had an important influence on policy and clinical and operational practice in the UK and beyond.

Based at the University of Lincoln Brayford Campus at the new Lincoln Medical School, the Post-Doctoral Research Associate will report directly to Professor Siriwardena and the work package lead Dr Murray Smith. They will also work closely with the CaHRU team, other academic collaborators on the study, and on other research linked to the aims of the research centre. The post holder may be required to help supervise the work of more junior researchers.

The successful candidate will be qualified to at least PhD level in a relevant subject. Previous appropriate training and experience are essential. The Post-Doctoral Research Associate will be involved in all aspects of the research but primarily focus on economic analysis and statistical analyses of large data. They will also be responsible for supporting preparation of reports, conference abstracts, presentations, and journal papers.

The applicant will have experience of health economic analysis and econometric analysis of large datasets, and ideally be familiar with survey, consensus and mixed methods. They should be knowledgeable of and proficient in the use of data analysis packages such as Stata and SPSS. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work well with members of the wider project team and CaHRU staff.

The post is an exciting opportunity for a researcher to join a research centre with an international reputation in applied translational health research and a dynamic and growing team of academic staff committed to the evaluation of health and social care quality and outcomes.
