The main responsibility of this role is to develop and maintain the insight that drives the understanding of the performance and effectiveness of the business focusing on commercial and revenue. This includes insight into the customer cycles and funnels. Communicating and managing this insight through key relationships within marketing and the wider business ensuring it is being used to increase performance.

The Data Intelligence team sit within the Marketing team, whilst having a close working relationship with sales and faculty. Our goal as an insight team is to champion to use of insight to build a deep understanding of our customers and market, improving performance and creating a competitive advantage for
the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of BPP proposition, products, and processes – being a reliable source of information for the business
  • Develop and maintain a suite of insight reports, focusing on key business commercials and revenue to measure BPP against its goals. This lens will look across BPP Group
  • Harness the insight to project expected performance, combining this with actuals to give a full holistic view of performance at BPP
  • Take responsibility for developing budgets for BPP Group alongside the finance department, using insight created to validate opportunities and raise any risks in these budgets
  • Convert group budgets into meaningful targets for departments across BPP, assisting attaining these targets with monitoring reporting
  • Ensure meaningful insights are produced and communicated back to the business with an appropriate level of detail for the audience. Including a deep understanding of key milestones in a customer's life cycle, both B2B and B2C, and their impacts on the key business commercials
  • Pro-actively identify areas of insight that can positively improve performance and support achieving business goals
  • Take the lead in understanding and enhancing the sources of the insight reports through dedicated databases
  • Champion the use of the data quality framework to improve data quality at BPP, identifying and implementing areas where it can have a positive impact

Candidate Criteria

  • Hold a numerate degree in a STEM subject (Or equivalent work experience)
  • Working experience in a commercially driven marketing or finance team
  • Experience of data manipulation and mining in a previous role
  • Experience in building and maintaining insight reports
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Accurate, persistent with excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and proactive individual with the drive to succeed
  • Committed to continuous self-development and learning
  • Strong communication skills, ability to translate technical conversations for multiple audiences as well as communicating high level strategy in a clear and concise way
  • Highly effective organisational skills. Proven track record of delivering to deadlines, with the ability to use resource effectively and creatively
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders to deliver business goals
  • Skills in building reports in reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI etc.
  • Well-developed problem-solving ability, consistent approach to establish root causes of an issue and then establish creative solutions
  • Experience in coaching and developing more junior analysts (desirable)
  • Confident in data mining and analyse databases to build insight; preferably using one of the following SAS, SQL, Python or R (desirable)
  • Leadership, ability to lead the business in the understanding and usability of data throughout the decision-making process (desirable)
