About the opportunity

The University of Sydney Business School is one of the Asia-Pacific region's premier centres for engaged and innovative business education and research. The Discipline of Finance is highly regarded and ranked consistently in the top 20 of the QS World Rankings. The discipline also has a very active research agenda covering major topic areas of finance. The discipline teaches course work programs to both undergraduates and postgraduates with two undergraduate majors (finance and banking) and one broad postgraduate specialisation in finance. There is a vibrant undergraduate honours program and PhD program.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding leader, with extensive experience in Finance, as a Professor of Practice. You will contribute to the strategic direction of the Discipline through your leadership and your understanding of Finance profession. You will:

  • act as a key translator between finance research and practice
  • develop and maintain and outstanding record of professionally relevant research, or influence in scholarly debate
  • actively contribute to the governance of the discipline

About you

With advanced interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of stakeholders, you will have a reputation of promoting the integration of academic scholarship with practical experience, demonstrating thought leadership within the profession. Drawing on your established networks with key industrial and professional partnerships, you will play a leading role in shaping the future of the discipline, bringing together academic and professional stakeholders to enhance the standing of the discipline and its impact on the wider finance community. You will be able to demonstrate excellence and leadership in teaching.

We are looking for senior professionals who are well versed in applying academic research to professional practice. Through your demonstrated commitment to excellence and a dynamic team-based culture, you will take a key position within the professoriate.

Term and remuneration

The successful applicants will be offered a full-time continuing position, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and confirmation period for new appointees. Relocation assistance may be provided if required, however, visa sponsorship is only available for this position for candidates who are currently located within Australia.

The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
