We are looking for an inspirational leader to Head our School of Architecture and Built Environment and to join the Faculty of Science and Engineering’s Senior Management Team.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering brings together the major areas of STEM, offering unique opportunities for education and knowledge creation, and is proud of its significant contribution to the regeneration of the West Midlands. As the Head of the School of Architecture and Built Environment, you’ll lead a vibrant, collaborative and impactful School incorporating all the major built environment disciplines. The School is now housed in a state of the art, award winning building located at the heart of the new Springfield Campus, and representing part of a major £100 million regeneration project to create Europe’s largest architecture and built environment super-campus. The Springfield campus is also home to the National Brownfield Institute providing bespoke opportunities for knowledge exchange and industrial partnership.
The University is a place of knowledge, innovation and enterprise, and prides itself on these three tenets. They underpin our strategies in learning and teaching, in research and knowledge exchange, and help us to engage with the business world by creating links and partnerships regionally, nationally and internationally. Significant recognition for its role in community engagement, local growth and regeneration and a commendation from the Quality Assurance Agency (their highest possible accolade) are among our many proud achievements and offerings.
Head of School requirements - you will be expected to:
- be an inspirational and visionary leader to further develop the growth of a high performing school and in fostering teaching excellence, outstanding student outcomes and impactful research / knowledge exchange;

- lead the growth, development and management of a sustainable portfolio of professional accredited undergraduate and postgraduate courses (UK-based and overseas); and
