Job Description

Research Assistant with the Department of Sociology for Research Projects on Race and Multiculturalism, Urbanism, and Religion

Duties & Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will assist A/P Daniel Goh with his research projects on race and multiculturalism, urbanism, and religion. The RA will be assisting with three book projects and at least six article projects for conferences, edited books and journals. Duties include conducting field research involving interviews, participant observation, digital and visual ethnography and archival work; organising, collating, transcribing and coding data; conducting data analysis; and copyediting and other editorial work for publication. Qualifications

  • Possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, majoring in a social science discipline or the equivalent
  • Independent mature worker who is well-organized, has the ability to multitask
  • Possess good written and spoken communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Possess basic skills in interview, ethnographic, archival and digital research methods
  • Able to communicate effectively with the informants and keep track of all details provided by informants
  • Basic administrative duties whenever required
