Role Description

About SWEE & C-DICE

Based in the School of Water, Energy & Environment (SWEE) the Hub Development Manager will work directly with the Centre for Postdoctoral Development in Infrastructure, Cities and Energy (C-DICE) led by Loughborough University in partnership with the Cranfield University and the University of Birmingham University, where C-DICE team members will be based.

C-DICE focuses on how we build and sustain the advanced skills base required to create a pipeline of world-class talent for the Infrastructure, Cities and Energy (IC&E) while accelerating progress towards a net zero-carbon society by 2050. This demands a massive interdisciplinary research effort.

About the Role

Developing training opportunities for postdoctoral researchers: The role holder will be responsible for developing the Training Hub. Working with C-DICE partner institutes your role will be to manage the training pathway for industry and academic partners. Maximising opportunities for net zero relevant, postdoctoral learning outcomes is central to the Hub manager’s role as the project develops and shares activities within C-DICE.  This includes taking responsibility for and coordinating analysis of training opportunities and needs, collating expertise across the C-DICE partnership, structuring learning events and developing training pathways in collaboration with industry and academia. The Training Hub Development Manager will be based at Cranfield and work closely with colleagues at both Loughborough and Birmingham. Line managing the Training & Development Assistant your role will be instrumental in ensuring the development and promotion of a diverse range of courses and learning experiences for professionals from both academia and industry.  In addition to the development and delivery of training pathways from Levels 4 to 7.

About You

You will have a good BSc/BA/BEd Honours degree in engineering, science, applied science, science communication and or teaching. Ideally you will have a PhD, or research experience at master’s level, or significant industry experience in a subject relevant to C-DICE. With excellent communication skills, you will have experience of training/educational development and knowledge of best practice and emerging innovations in post-graduate education.

Doctoral research experience is not essential. However, you will have a good understanding of the different roles and careers of postdoctoral researchers as well as an understanding of how research is developed and funded in the UK-HE sector.

In return, you will be joining a supportive team and environment and have exciting opportunities for career development; and an opportunity to collaborate with academic and technical experts across these world leading research and education institutions.
