The University of Southampton is in the top 1% of world Universities and one of the UK’s top 15 research-intensive universities.  It is a founding member of the prestigious Russell Group and our successes are acknowledged in international and UK league table.  We have an international reputation for research, teaching and enterprise activities and our lecturers are leaders in their fields.

The Human Genetics and Genomic Medicine research theme within the Faculty of Medicine, invites applications for a tenure position as a Lecturer in Functional Genomics.

This appointment will further strengthen strategic focus on medical genomic research and genomics education. The group is closely allied with University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust and plays a key academic partner role in the Wessex Genome Medicine Centre that is recruiting NHS patients to the Genomics England initiative.

There is a broad ranging existing repertoire of research strengths in this area which spans genomic informatics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, functional cell biology and systems biology. The successful candidate will demonstrate research excellence complementary to these areas, and in particular we are searching for expertise in functional genomics, with clear potential to enhance the scope and potential of medical research.

The candidate will make a valued contribution to Genomics Education within the Faculty.

The individual will be strongly supported in developing an independent research group that benefits from collegiate interaction for national and international funding opportunities.
