Our purpose is to offer life-changing experiences for our students, and to help shape the world with research, innovation, teaching and industry engagement. With strong industry connections forged over 130 years, collaboration with industry remains integral to RMIT's leadership in education, applied and innovative research, and to the development of highly skilled, globally focused graduates.

About The Role

Whether you just started your career at research or have a proven track record, an RMIT Research Fellowship can help to consolidate your career as a Research Scientist.

As an RMIT Vice-Chancellor’s Research Fellow you will:

  • Contribute significantly to our strategic research priority themes and research priority areas — generating new ideas and building our research and innovation capability
  • Apply innovative, enterprising research practice to solving complex problems and meeting the needs of communities
  • Identify and develop innovative solutions to problems affecting communities around the world
  • Work with internationally recognised partners to ensure our research creates value and positively impacts the economy, society, and the environment.

The 2021 Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellowships open 1 September, and we are looking to hear from Senior Research, Research Fellows, and Postdoctoral Fellows whose research, experience and expertise align with one of RMIT’s 8 Strategic Research Priority Themes and one or more of our Enabling Capability Platforms (ECPs).

RMIT’s 8 Strategic Research Priority Themes:

  • Digital and Economy Transformation

  • Business and Enterprise Transformation
  • Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience
  • Urban Infrastructures
  • Creative Technologies
  • Indigenous Knowledge - This means that only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.
  • Social Equality and Justice

RMIT’s 8 Enabling Capability Platforms (ECPs):

We connect researchers from across disciplines from RMIT’s Colleges and Schools through eight inter-disciplinary primary research clusters called Enabling Capability Platforms. This unique way of working brings together staff and students from different backgrounds and from all over RMIT’s research ecosystem to harness resources and expertise to the benefit of high quality and relevant research outcomes.

  • Advanced Manufacturing and Fabrication
  • Advanced Materials
  • Biomedical and Health Innovation
  • Design and Creative Practice
  • Global Business Innovation
  • Information and Systems (Engineering)
  • Social Change
  • Urban Futures

RMIT’s Vice-Chancellor's Research Fellows make significant contributions to RMIT’s research priorities by developing and engaging in high-quality, high impact research projects, which address local, national, regional and global challenges.
