Part Time Foundation Year Lecturer (0.5 FTE) – Biology / Life Sciences

The University is set in the heart of the beautiful, safe and friendly city of Lincoln.  The University of Lincoln is a forward-thinking, ambitious and international institution with high aspirations and strong record of widening participation in Higher Education.

The creation of the new Foundation Studies Centre, is a milestone in the development of the University of Lincoln and is based within the College of Science.  The Centre’s focus is to provide Foundation Year programmes, in preparation for students to transition onto the major degree programmes offered by the College, within the Schools of Chemistry, Engineering, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Physics, Pharmacy and Medicine.

Due to popularity across the courses delivered by the Foundation Studies Centre, we are seeking a talented biologist with the ability to contribute to the teaching of relevant elements within the science foundation year.  An expectation is that you would have a strong track record in developing and delivering innovative A level (FHEQ level 3) or equivalent curricula from within the area of Biology / Life Sciences. An ability to also deliver into other areas of Science / Mathematics could be seen as an advantage. You will also have a collegiate approach enabling you to work with staff across the different subject disciplines within the Centre and the College and have the ambition to succeed in an exciting, thriving and supportive atmosphere.

Applications are strongly encouraged from individuals within the Secondary and Further Education sectors as well as those currently within Higher Education.

The successful applicant will report to the Director of Foundation Year Studies, Kerry Blagden, who is herself an experienced transition support practitioner, with extensive experience in the secondary and HE sectors.   Please feel free to contact Kerry Blagden within the College of Science by email on  kblagden@lincoln.ac.uk to arrange a mutually convenient time for an informal conversation about this opportunity.

As an institutional Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder we are committed to advancing gender equality in STEM, therefore female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
