Senior Strategic Risk Manager

Employer
DURHAM UNIVERSITY
Location
Durham
Salary
£42194 - £50296 per annum
Closing date
28 Sep 2021

The Senior Strategic Risk Manager is responsible for leading the development of the University's approach to managing risk and the associated processes for identifying, managing and monitoring key institutional risks and opportunities.

Risk management is a key part of the integrated planning process and ensures that operational risks are assessed and communicated effectively, and that appropriate mitigations are put in place. Where risks are high-impact/high likelihood, or are cross-cutting institutional risks, they are escalated appropriately.

The Senior Strategic Risk Manager also has an important strategic role, managing the University's Strategic Risk Register and shaping strategies and plans that build resilience against key risks and capitalise on priority opportunities. Critical to this is the role's horizon scanning function that identifies and communicates the major external threats and opportunities faced by the University, drawing on both internal and external sources of insight.

As one of the senior managers in the Strategy, Planning & Insight Office you will also be expected to contribute to a number of the core functions of the team, working closely with colleagues to ensure continual improvements in performance across the University.

You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of staff at all levels across the University, including members of the University Executive Committee (UEC), Executive Deans of Faculty, Faculty Managers and Heads of Department, Colleges, and Professional Services.

The role reports to Dr Paul Bennett, Assistant Director in the Strategy, Planning & Insight Office.
