About the position

The Department of Psychology (NTNU) has a vacancy for a two-years postdoctoral researcher in environmental psychology in the research project CAMPAIGNers.

This position is funded by the European Commission through the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme and is available from October 2021.
The position is part of an exciting, interdisciplinary H2020 research project “CAMPAIGNers” (Citizens Acting on Mitigation Pathways through Active Implementation of a Goal-setting Network). A key focus of the project is on motivating people’s pro-environmental lifestyle changes. We will establish a large network of ca. 100,000 citizens (research participants) who will receive tailored, repeated interventions through a mobile application in an attempt to motivate pro-environmental lifestyle changes.

We will collect detailed, longitudinal data on participants’ responses to these interventions to shed new light on people’s decision making in this area.

The postdoctoral researcher will work in the part of the project, coordinated by NTNU’s Christian Klöckner and Stepan Vesely, focusing on the psychological processes and other key determinants underlying the pro-environmental shift in people’s lifestyles resulting from the interventions. Our team and the postdoctoral researcher in particular will play a decisive role in crafting the interventions and in evaluating their impacts. Other tasks, such as reviewing relevant literature, design and implementation of studies, data analysis, preparation of publications and other scientific outputs, contributions to project management and administrative work will be part of the position.

Duties of the position

  • Study design and implementation
  • Data analysis and interpretation (also for internal purposes of the project – the collected data will be sequentially used to inform subsequent stages of the project)
  • Writing of academic papers and preparation and presentation of other research outputs (e.g., conference or workshop presentations)
  • Contact with local policy makers and citizens (this will be part of implementing the interventions, English language can be used)
  • Project management and administration tasks
  • Support of other parts of the international project team in their activities
