Inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs and leaders in analytics, operations and risk

This is no ordinary role. It’s a unique opportunity to bring insights and inspiration from your career in decision analytics and risk to a leading business school. This role is an opportunity to shape the future of your industry while continuing to make your mark on its present. Your expertise will influence how the new generation navigates complexity and risk globally.

Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton is one of the UK’s top business schools. With a truly distinctive multidisciplinary approach, we educate ambitious leaders who want to change the world. Our world-class, cutting-edge research shapes future business practices and solves problems for businesses, organisations and governments. We have links with many of the world’s leading companies. And we bring together experts from a diverse range of business fields through an integrated enterprise strategy that reinforces connections with industry.

As an Enterprise Fellow you will develop and manage enterprise activities ranging from executive education and CPD provision, to consulting, applied research or facilitating spin-outs for clients, customers and stakeholders. Whether developing approaches to teaching and learning, or shaping new income streams, you will enjoy scope to innovate and make a significant impact. The option for a part-time role makes this an excellent fit alongside other activities, such as consultancy, in industry.

You will bring to the role a strong professional reputation in industry, a track record of consultancy activities and a proven ability to build networks in your industry. Experience of executive education would be a real advantage, but most important is your ability to engage and inspire students and colleagues alike. An innovative and original thinker, you have a flair for building relationships, motivating and developing people, and shaping successful, enterprising activities.

The Department of Decision Analytics and Risk is a leading authority in management science, risk, analytics and operations, realised and delivered through research, education and consultancy. We develop innovative analytical approaches for improving decision making and risk taking and support individuals and businesses to make sound and effective decisions. Our strengths have been recognised by QS being in the Top 50 Universities in terms of Operational Research and Statistics in the world and top 10 in the UK. Our vision is to be a thought leader in innovations that have significant impact on organisations and society in the areas of operations, risk, analytics and management science. Our department is highly interdisciplinary, collegial and lively.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact Professor Laura Costanzo, Head of School, or Professor Toby King, Director of Enterprise, or Martin Kunc, Head of Department at HOS-SBS@soton.ac.uk

Flexibility

We recognise that this role will attract candidates with a broad range of experiences and interests, and we have developed job descriptions  that build on the primary purpose of enterprise, to include elements of education and / or research, dependent on your ability and interest.
