Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in the Medical Ethics and Humanities Unit (Ref.: 508058), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in Bioethics, Philosophy, Law, Social Sciences or a related field and experience in medical ethics or health humanities. Clinical background is preferred.  Applicants should have a proven track record in both teaching and research in bioethics or any of the diverse fields that contribute to the ethical and humanistic dimensions of medical research and practice, as well as a good understanding of the local medical training culture and healthcare system. Excellent communication skills that enable meaningful dialogues and collaborations at the interface between medicine, healthcare and a range of humanities disciplines; and a good network of Hong Kong’s civic sectors or NGOs with potential teaching partners of Medical Humanities programme, are desirable.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
