At TU Dresden the Faculty of Biology invites applications for the

Chair (W2) of Didactics of Biology

to be filled on April 1, 2022. 

You will represent the field of Didactics of Biology in research and teaching.

You will play a key role in establishing and shaping the content of the new biology teacher training study program and will be responsible for the biology didactic components of the training (in German) in the teacher training study program for teachers at grammar schools, secondary schools and vocational schools, as well as for their ongoing development. Your future tasks will include the development of your own focus in a current area of biology didactics research as well as participation in the continuing education and training of biology teachers and lateral career movers. Close cooperation with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB) is required. Your willingness to actively participate in academic self-administration is a prerequisite.

We are seeking an individual who has demonstrated excellence in a current area of research in the didactics of biology through an outstanding PhD degree, publication activity, practical school experience, and pedagogical aptitude. We expect you to be willing and able to acquire third-party funded projects, to supervise PhD students, and to cooperate on an interdisciplinary basis. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
