The Zepler Institute houses a cleanroom facility aimed at delivering world class nanofabrication and photonic based research in addition to enterprise activities relating to these fields. Operating within the Zepler Institute, the Silicon Photonics Group operates an enterprise activity known as CORNERSTONE 2, which is a Silicon Photonics multi-project-wafer fabrication service.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the cleanroom tools and development of process recipes to fulfil the CORNERSTONE 2 user requirements. You will undertake a wide variety of tasks and will work with minimal supervision. This is an active engineering role primarily based around the facility's fabrication tools.
To be successful you will have skill level equivalent to achievement of HNC, A-Level, NVQ3 with proven work experience in relevant technical support roles and job-related training. Experience in a microfabrication cleanroom, with proven experience of successfully planning and progressing work activities is essential. Ideally, you will have experience of performing optical characterisation of photonics integrated circuits, have a degree or equivalent professional qualifications/experience in a scientific field such as engineering and a basic knowledge in Silicon Photonics device fabrication.
The position provides the opportunity to join one of the leading academic Silicon Photonics groups in the world comprising over 40 researchers led by Professor Graham Reed.
